Delhi Weather Today: Delhiites might get some relief from the sweltering heat on Wednesday as the weatherman has forecast thunderstorm and dust storm in the national capital. It was a warm Wednesday morning with the minimum temperature settling at 24.4 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year. Humidity was recorded at 49 per cent.


The weatherman has forecast partly cloudy skies with the possibility of dust storm/thunderstorm towards the afternoon and evening and gusty winds of speed 30 to 40 km/hr. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 42 degrees Celsius.

Over the last week, Delhi has been witnessing temperatures crossing the 40- degree Celsius mark. The national capital reeled under searing heat on Tuesday, recording a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, the highest for the season so far.  "The city recorded a maximum of 43.7 degrees Celsius, which is the highest for the season so far, and a low of 23 degrees Celsius. The humidity level oscillated between 21 and 60 per cent," a MeT official said. On Monday, the city recorded a high of 42 degrees Celsius and a low of 23.4 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, in view of rising temperature in Lucknow, the District Magistrate on Sunday gave directions to all government and private schools to reduce their closing timings. As per the order of District Magistrate, from April 30 onwards, classes till Standard 10 will be conducted from 7:30 am to 12 pm while Classes of 11 and 12 will be conducted till 1 pm.

Indian Meteorological Department has released a suggested list of actions which include: avoiding heat exposure, wearing lightweight, light-coloured, loose, cotton clothes and covering the head with a cloth, hat or umbrella to avoid the harmful effects of the heat wave.
