New Delhi: Delhi on Monday reported 501 fresh Covid-19 infections in last the 24 hours, 16 less than the previous day, according to the government health bulletin. On Sunday, Delhi registered 517 cases.
However, the positivity rate in the city has jumped to 7.72 per cent from 4.21 per cent reported on Sunday.
No death due to Covid-19 was recorded for the second consecutive day, the bulletin said.
The latest numbers take the cumulative caseload to 18,69,051. The death toll remains at 26,160. The Covid fatality rate in capital city stands at 1.4 per cent.
With 290 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 18,41,162. The number of Covid patients being treated in home isolation has also risen to 1,188. Delhi presently has 1,729 active Covid cases.
A total of 6,492 new tests -- 5,219 RT-PCR and 1273 Rapid Antigen - were conducted in the last 24 hours. Delhi presently has 623 containment zones.
A total of 4,973 vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours - 359 first doses, 639 second doses and 3,975 precaution doses, according to the health bulletin.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said though the number of coronavirus cases was rising in the national capital, the rate of hospitalisation was low.
"The number of positive cases has been rising in Delhi. But we have carried out 100 per cent vaccination and a large number of residents have already been infected with the (corona)virus. Also, there are not a lot of hospitalisations. So, it is not an alarming situation. We are keeping a watch on the situation," PTI quoted Jain as saying.
A meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Wednesday is expected to consider the reimposition of fine for not wearing face masks.
