The Delhi High Court Tuesday passed an interim order in favour of Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena in a suit of civil defamation. The governor had appealed with the court to pass an order directing to retrain the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders from levelling defamatory allegations against him and his family members in future.

While pronouncing the order on interim relief, Justice Amit Bansal, said, "I have passed an ad-interim injunction order in favour of the plaintiff...." The detailed order is awaited, reported PTI.

After the Delhi High Court passed an interim injunction in favour, LG VK Saxena tweeted 'Satyamev Jayate'

Saxena has moved a suit of civil defamation against AAP and its leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, Atishi Singh, Sanjay Singh and Jasmine Shah for allegedly making derogatory remarks in a press conference and in social media, reported ANI.

A compensation of Rs 2.5 crore along with interest has been sought in form of damages from the AAP and its five leaders by the governor.

According to ANI, AAP leaders have accused Saxena of being involved in a Rs 1,400 crore scam during his tenure as Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) chairman.

Earlier, Saxena's counsel had urged the apex court to direct social networking sites Twitter and YouTube to take down or remove the tweets, re-tweets, posts, videos, captions, taglines along with pictures of Saxena and his family members on their respective platforms, reported PTI.
