The Delhi government has made the decision to provide an honorarium of Rs 1 crore to the family of a nurse who tragically lost her life to COVID-19 while serving as a frontline worker during the pandemic. Gayatri Sharma, a nurse at GTB Hospital since 1998, was scheduled to retire in 2024. She had been posted on duty at Ghazipur Health Centre during the pandemic. Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj met with Sharma's family on Tuesday to express his condolences.

Minister Bharadwaj acknowledged Sharma's unwavering dedication to serving the people throughout her long tenure and stated that while the value of her life cannot be measured, the honorarium serves as a tribute. He said, "Throughout her many years of service in the health department, she remained dedicated to serving the people. While the value of her life cannot be measured, this honorarium is a tribute from the Kejriwal government to the sacrifices made by the Corona warriors," as quoted by PTI.
