New Delhi: The Delhi government will be using 3 hotels to treat state government officials who have tested positive for Coronavirus. According to a report by IANS, three hotels -- the Ginger, Vivek Vihar, and two 5-star hotels, Leela Ambience and Park Plaza -- have been kept at the disposal of Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital which will oversee the treatment of infected officials.


To facilitate the treatment of the officers the Delhi government has appointed a State Nodal Welfare Officer. The facility will be used to treat officials of the government of NCT of Delhi, autonomous bodies, corporations, and local bodies and their family members.

"The treatment of COVID-19 positive officers/officials of the government of NCT of Delhi, autonomous bodies, corporations & local bodies and their family members shall be exclusively provided at these hotels while serious patients could be shifted to the main hospital area," said a Delhi government order.

Delhi is one of the hotspots of Coronavirus in the country and stands in third place after Maharashtra and Gujarat. Currently, the number of corona positive cases in Delhi has reached 5,980. On Friday, 338 new cases and two fresh deaths were reported by the Delhi government authorities.

Three more doctors at the civic-run Hindu Rao Hospital have also tested positive and this brought the total number of people who have tested positive from this hospital to 10.On Thursday, the city had recorded its largest single-day spike of 448 new Covid-19 cases.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain also said that a 400-bed hospital in the Burari area will be started as a Covid-19 care centre in the next few days.
