The matter was mentioned before the Supreme Court on Monday by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi citing the ill health of Sisodia's wife Seema Sisodia. On Thursday, a Delhi court ordered to physically produce former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy case.
The court’s order came after the Delhi Police moved an application seeking the production of the Aam Aadmi Party leader through video conferencing stating security concerns.
Appearing for Sisodia, his counsel said that he has a right to be produced physically for an effective hearing, and the rights of the accused to be produced in the court should not be curtailed.
Following the arguments, the court decided that Sisodia be produced physically on July 31.
On July 3, Sisodia’s bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma pronounced the order on Sisodia’s bail plea and also dismissed the bail petitions of Vijay Nair, ex-communication in charge of Aam Aadmi Party, Abhishek Boinpally (Hyderabad Based Businessman), Binoy Babu Binoy, (manager with a liquor company M/S Pernod Ricard) in connection with the case.
