E-Auto in Delhi: The Delhi government is taking several initiatives to promote electric vehicles. It conducted a computerized draw for e-autos in Delhi on February 14 and within three days, the first 20 drivers who registered for the e-auto were handed over the permission letters today.
Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot handed over permission letters to the drivers of the first 20 e-autos during an event. The 20 drivers who received this permission letter, also include 10 women e-auto drivers.
The Delhi government had launched a scheme in October 2021 for the registration of 4,261 e-autos, of which 33 percent (1,406 e-autos) are reserved for women drivers.
After registration for e-autos, LOI (Letter of Intent) has now been issued to 20 drivers under the computerized draw, of which 50 percent are women. To ensure transparency in the entire process, post the success of the draw, the details of the same have been uploaded on the official website of Delhi transport- https://transport.delhi.gov.in/home/transport-department
How These Autos Look
It is noteworthy that the electric autos running in Delhi will be different in appearance from the rest of the autos. While the ordinary auto is green and yellow, the e-auto will be blue in color and the auto operated by women will be 'lilac' (light purple) color.
The government has decided to invite fresh applications for the remaining 663 e-autos reserved for women with a view to encouraging women drivers to take up applications.
If the remaining slots are still available, DMRC will be allowed to operate these e-autos through an aggregator/operator for the remaining 663 e-autos from the women's quota. Women applicants can apply till February 23, 2022.
TSR By April 30.
Successful applicants will have to purchase TSR and apply for registration on the single window portal of CESL before April 30, 2022. If the applicants fail to do so, the LOI will be deemed to be surrendered and will be included in the waiting list. Registration of e-autos will be allowed only on submission of valid PSV badges and LOI.
