New Delhi/ Mumbai: Delhi reported 12,306 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 43 more fatalities due to the infection on Thursday while the positivity rate saw a marginal dip to 21.48 per cent, according to the data shared by the Health Department.


43 death recorded in last 24 hours makes it the highest fatality count since June 10, 2021.


The data shared by Health Department also stated that active cases in the capital city have now reached 68,730 mark with 2,539 Covid patients being admitted to hospitals. 


Delhi's cumulative Covid tally now stands at 17,60,272 mark. Total deaths due to Covid in national capital has reached 25,503.


The positivity rate in the national capital saw a marginal dip from 23.86 per cent on Wednesday to 21.48 per cent today. The city had reported 13,785 Covid cases yesterday.


Earlier in the day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that it seems that the peak of the third Covid-19 wave has gone past in the national capital, even as he cautioned that the city is not out of the danger zone yet.


When asked if some restrictions will be eased in Delhi, the minister said proactive measures have also led to the fall in the number of cases and for any decision on easing restrictions, "we will have to monitor the situation first in the coming days".


Mumbai Covid Tally


Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 5,708 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, yet another dip in daily caseload compared to yesterday. A day ago, the Maharashtra capital recorded 6,032 infections.


In the last 24 hours, the financial capital also logged 12 new deaths due to the infection and 15,440 recoveries. 


The latest figures also pushed active cases in Mumbai to 22,103 and cumulative Covid tally to 10,23,707. 


As per the latest bulletin released by the Health Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai now has 4,857 patients in hospital of whom 550 were admitted during the day.
