A Delhi Court on Monday rejected the plea moved by the jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking regular video consultation with his Doctor. An AIIMS panel will decide on insulin requirements of Kejriwal.

The Aam Aadmi Party chief is currently lodged in Tihar jail after he was sent to judicial custody in connection with a money laundering probe by the Enforcement Directorate. ED has alleged that Kejriwal is a key conspirator behind the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy scam.

The court ordered Tihar Jail authorities to ensure that there is no deviation from the prescribed diet plan in Kejriwal's meals. The court said that it should be informed immediately in case there is any deviation in Kejriwal's diet.

Arvind Kejriwal had appealed to the Rouse Avenue Court to allow him daily 15 minutes medical consultation with his doctor in the presence of his wife. Court rejected his plea today and asked the AIIMS Director to constitute a medical panel to ascertain Kejriwal's insulin requirements.

The court further said that in case of requirement of any special consultation jail authorities should concern a medical board constituted by AIIMS director consisting of an endocrinologist and a diabetologist.

The ED had opposed Kejriwal's plea alleging that he was deliberately eating mangoes to spike his blood sugar level and secure a bail on medical grounds. The court had sought response from Tihar Jail authorities on these allegations and a report on Kejriwal's diet.

Tihar Jail informed the court that AIIMS’ opinion was sought on the matter and the doctors said that diabetic patients should not eat mangoes. It was further said that Kejriwal’s sugar level is stable and there is no need for insulin.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for Kejriwal had refuted the allegations made by the ED and Tihar Jail. Singhvi clarified in the last hearing that out of the 48 meals sent from home to Kejriwal, only three had mangoes. He further said that the Delhi CM ate aloo puri only once because of Navratri.
