New Delhi: City police is facing flak for paying more-than-usual respect to the national bird, peacock.
The city police under Tilak Marg police station wrapped the body of a peacock in a Tricolour and buried it in a box.
Considering, that the peacock is a national bird, the police decided to buy the bird like martyrs.
As per a report, the officials stated that they were following protocol as it is a national bird the country.
However, the Wildlife activists feel differently about it and believe that the cops have violated the Wildlife Act.
As per an activist, no police or NGO can get a postmortem done or bury animal and the body needs to be handed over the forest department who would cremate the body after ensuring no body parts of the animal are smuggled.
