New Delhi: After spreading his wings across Punjab and Goa, The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to contest next year’s Assembly polls in Gujarat, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced in Surat, while addressing a rally on Sunday.
During his speech Kejriwal accused Bhartiya Janta Party of destroying the democracy in the state. He said, “The Aam Aadmi will take over the Congress and the ruling BJP in the Assembly polls”.
He also spoke about the patidars, saying “The Patidars who were demanding reservation in Gujarat were killed. He raised a question on the killing saying, “Why were they killed and at whose behest? They were our citizens, not terrorists”.
Kejriwal in his 30 minute speech also sought a punishment for the politicians for ordering firing on Patidar youth, stressing that the AAP supported the Patidar community’s main demand for reservation and quota.
Kejriwal also lashed out at BJP president Amit Shah, who faced protests by Patidars two months ago during a social event in Gujarat, saying “Amit Shah is on one side and the aam aadmi, who is poor, struggles for survival on the other side. But when the aam aadmi stands up, the supporters of Shah will lose power.”
“Everyone knows who is running Gujarat. Every instruction comes from Delhi. Earlier, Anandiben was shown the door after she refused to follow Amit Shah’s instructions. Vijay Rupani has been installed as CM and he follows every instruction and command of Shah,” Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal signed off by praising Hardik Patel for spearheading the Patidar agitation, and called him a “patriot.”
