NEW DELHI: The Archbishop of Delhi has written a letter that refers to a "turbulent political atmosphere" where he is urging all priests to "pray for the country" ahead of the 2019 national election.




In the letter, the Archbishop, Anil Couto, also asks for a prayer campaign and a day of fasting every week "for the nation".

The letter says "we are witnessing a turbulent political atmosphere which poses a threat to the democratic principles enshrined in the constitution and the secular fabric of the nation”

As per reports, the letter dated 8 May was during masses throughout the archdiocese on Sunday, 13.
