New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan has been declared as "a bad charcter" by the Delhi Police in March 2022, according to an official document, news agency PTI reported. 


Jamia Nagar Police Station sent the proposal to declare AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan as a "bad character" on March 28, 2022. The propsal was later approved by the Delhi Police on March 30, 2022. 


According to the document, as many as 18 FIRs has been registered against the AAP legislator. 


Any person who is involved in various cases including murder and attempt to murder, and can cause disturbance in an area is certified as a "bad character," according to the Delhi Police. Police keeps a close watch on such persons. 


Hours after the Okhla MLA participated in a demonstartion against an anti-encroachment drive in the Madanpur Khadar area in southeast Delhi, Khan along with five other people were nabbed by Police on Thursday. They were arrested on the charges of rioting and obstructing public servants from discharging their duty, PTI reported. 


However on Friday, Saket Court granted bail to the AAP MLA Khan, news agency ANI reported. 






The anti-encroachment drive triggered violent demonstrations and stone-pelting, with residents alleging that many legal constructions were razed.


"An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Amanatullah Khan and five other supporters have been arrested for rioting and obstructing public servants in discharging their duty," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Esha Pandey said on Thursday, PTI reported.
