New Delhi: The Defence Expo 2022, proposed to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from March 10 to March 14 has been postponed. Defence Ministry spokesperson, A Bharat Bhushan Babu Friday confirmed the news citing logistics problems being faced by participants.

The Defence Ministry said that new dates will soon be announced for the 12th edition of the Defence Expo.

Over 1,000 companies, including more than 100 global firms, were likely to participate in the expo. While 55 more countries had confirmed to be a part of the event in Gandhinagar.

"Over 900 companies, including over 100 foreign firms, have confirmed their participation. We expect the number to go beyond 1,000," an official said last month while adding, 'we expect around 250 MoUs to be firmed up at the four-day event', the Defence Ministry was quoted by news agency PTI.

The motive behind the four-day event is to showcase to the world how India's policy intervention has helped defence manufacturing flourish.

The Defexpo 2022 will also give an opportunity to the participating countries to explore the strengths and capabilities of the Indian Defence industry and cement a business partnership.
