New Delhi: Poll strategist Prashant Kishor after almost joining the Congress party said weeks ago said today that he will “never go with the party” and folded his hands while saying so to emphasise his point, reported NDTV. The Congress would go down and  take everyone with it, he added.

Kishor’s pronouncement came during his visit to Bihar villages where he is gathering public opinion on an alternative government in the state.

"In 2015, we won Bihar. In 2017, we won Punjab. In 2019 Jagan Mohan Reddy won in Andhra Pradesh. We won in Tamil Nadu and Bengal. In 11 years, we only lost one election... the 2017 Uttar Pradesh election. That is why I decided never to work with the Congress," said Prashant Kishor, folding his hands, quoted by the news publication.

The election strategist criticised the party leadership by saying that “the current Congress bosses are such that they will go down and take everyone with them. If I go, I will also drown. If I go, I will also drown,” he added.

Kishor had earlier also trained his gun against the grand old party terming the recent Congress Chintan Shivir or strategy meet held in Rajasthan’s Udaipur a “failure” and had predicted doom for the party in the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

In April this year, Kishor decided not to join the party after a week-long interaction which included consultations and multiple presentations which was initially aimed towards him joining the party.

Declining the offer by the Congress, Kishor had said that party needs to fix “deep-rooted” structural problems within itself.
