New Delhi: Fifteen people have died and 40 others have been left injured in a collision between a bus and a trolley near Suhagi Pahari in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa. Twenty of the injured passengers have been admitted to a hospital in UP's Prayagraj.
"The bus was going from Hyderabad to Gorakhpur. All people on the bus are reportedly the residents of UP," Navneet Bhasin, SP Rewa told news Agency ANI.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath extended condolences over the deaths and announced ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs to be given to the kin of the deceased.
"Talks held with MP CM for treatment of injured and transporting mortal remains of deceased UP residents to the state. Rs 2 lakhs to be given to kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to critically injured," he informed in a tweet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident as he said, "The accident on the national highway in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh is heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this incident. I also wish all the injured a speedy recovery. Local administration under the supervision of state government is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims."
He announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000, the Prime Minister's Office informed.
MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also announced a compensation of Rs 1 Lakh each to be provided to the families of the deceased on behalf of the state government. "Some injured have been discharged from the hospital; free of cost treatment is being given to them but they are also being given Rs 10,000 each," Chouhan told ANI.
