New Delhi: The Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Swati Malliwal on Wednesday sought the registration of an FIR against Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna for his alleged misogynistic remarks made in a video that has gone viral on the social media, according to reports.

According to a report by news agency PTI, Khanna in a video, said a girl belonging to a ''civilised society'' would never initiate a sexual conversation.

''If a girl asks a boy to have sex, she is not a girl, she is a sex worker. Because a decent girl belonging to a civilised society would never say such things,” PTI quoted the actor as saying in the video.

DCW chief Malliwal wrote to the Cyber Crime Unit of the Delhi Police taking suo moto cognizance of the video and said that Khanna “can be seen making derogatory comments against women”.

Terming his remark “extremely misogynistic and offensive to women” and saying that it “outrages the modesty of women and attracts several sections of IPC”, the DCW chief asked the police to submit a copy of an FIR registered against Khanna in the matter and an action taken report by August 13.

Notably, Khanna, who operates a YouTube channel called ‘Bheeshm International’ had uploaded a video titled ‘Kya aapko bhi “aisi ladkiyan” lubhati hai???’ (Do such women attract you?) earlier this week.

Several social media users took to their Twitter handles to react to his comments.

''If any actor says such bullshit, he's asking for limelight Mukesh Khanna,'' a user wrote, while another user said, ''Amazing logic. I understand though, that no girl might have said this to him. So it's great for him to remain in this delusion for life.''

''Sorry Shaktimaan, this time you're the one in the wrong here,'' read another tweet.

It is to be noted that Mukesh Khanna starred in the popular television show ‘Shaktimaan’ and as Bheeshma in the television show ‘Mahabharat’.
