Cyrus Mistry, the former Tata Sons chairman and Indian business tycoon, was killed in a road accident on Sunday while travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. His Mercedes car hit the divider and it was reported that there were four people in the car during the accident occured. He was shifted to hospital but there the doctors declared brought dead. His body was shifted to Kasa rural hospital for postmortem.


Amid tributes pouring in from all quarters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his condolences and said Mistry's passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry.


"The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace," PM Modi tweeted paying condolences to his family and friends.

Meanwhile, social media was flooded with messages of tributes to Mistry's family and friends. Top political leaders and celebrities condoled the business tycoon's death.


Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was the youngest son of Indian construction magnate Pallonji Mistry. He was born on July 4, 1968. Mistry was a business tycoon, who became the chairman of the Tata Group on 28 December 2012, after which the Tata Group removed Mistry from the post on October 24, 2016. The Economist described Mistry as "the most important industrialist" in both India and Britain.
