A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable allegedly shot at his own colleague at a CRPF camp in Tughlaqabad, New Delhi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast), Esha Pandey said that information was received from Batra Hospital regarding one head constable, Vakil Singh being shot by another constable.

“During the inquiry, it was revealed that Singh was allegedly shot by constable Aman Kumar (28),” DCP Pandey told PTI. She also added that Singh died during treatment.

Assistant Commandant, PDG, SHO Govind Puri along with other senior officers had reached the Parliament Duty Group of CRPF Camp in the Tughlaqabad area on Tuesday to brief the staff for parliament duty, as per the complaint filed by Manoj Kumar.

As the brief ended, Aman Kumar who was holding an X-95 weapon hurled bullets at Vakil Singh. Kumar refused to surrender even after a few senior officers tried to intervene.

He even threatened to shoot anyone who will try to take Singh to a hospital. Constable Vijay Ram tried to control the situation but the accused took a shot at Ram’s chin. The bullet was only able to graze his chin, the officer said.

Esha Pandey said that 9 cartridges have been recovered from the spot and the rifle used by the accused has also been seized.

The accused was later overpowered by nine other police members and then later provided with first aid.

During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that Aman Kumar shot at his fellow constable as Vakil Singh had a “peculiar habit of abusing him” as reported by PTI. A case of murder has been registered at Govindpuri police station and the body has been handed over to the family.
