India witnessed a drop in Covid-19 cases from the previous day as it reported 11,793 coronavirus cases and 27 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union health ministry data on 28 June, reported news agency PTI. Compared to Monday when 17,073 new cases were reported the drop in coronavirus cases is close to 5k.


The total active caseload has, however, jumped to 96,700, according to the ministry data. There has been an increase of 2,280 cases in a span of 24 hours. With 27 deaths reported, the total number of fatalities now stand at 525047. There were 9,486 recoveries during the same period.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 19,21,811 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccines, which takes the total number of vaccination  under the nationwide vaccination drive to 1,97,31,43,196. The Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.57 per cent, as per the health ministry.


The active Covid cases comprise 0.22 per cent of the total cases. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.49 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 3.36 per cent, the ministry said.


The number of people recovering from the infection climbed to 4,27,97,092, while the case fatality rate was 1.21 per cent. 


Kerala recorded the maximum number of infections with 3,206 cases recorded in the last 24 hours followed by Maharashtra with 2,369 infections, Tamil Nadu with 1,461 cases, Delhi with 628 cases and Karnataka with 617 cases, according to the ministry of health and family welfare data.

 

Of the 27 deaths, three were reported in Delhi, five in Maharashtra, one each in Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Uttarakhand, and 13 backlog deaths in Kerala. The death rate stands at 1.21 percent.
