India recorded 5,357 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative number of active cases in the country to 32,814 as per the data by the health ministry.


On Saturday, the country logged 6,155 cases of Covid-19 taking the number of active cases to 31,194 while the death toll climbed to 5,30,954 with 11 deaths, including two reconciled by Kerala.


4,41,89,111 people recovered from the infection, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent.


The cumulative tally of coronavirus infections in the country now stands at 4.47 crore (4,47,51,259). 


535 Cases In Delhi, Positivity Rate At 23.05 Per Cent 


On Saturday, the national capital recorded 535 fresh cases of Covid-19 with a positivity rate of 23.05 per cent, as per the data by the city government’s health department. The city’s Covid-19 death toll stood at 26,536 as per the bulletin.


Delhi has witnessed a spurt in the number of fresh Covid infections over the last few days amid a sharp rise in H3N2 influenza cases in the country.


The Delhi government is keeping an eye on the rise in Covid cases and is "prepared to face any eventuality", Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said last week.


The CM said that there was no need to worry for now and the city government was taking all required steps. 


542 Cases In Maharashtra, One Fatality 


Maharashtra, on Saturday, reported 542 cases of coronavirus with one fatality which raised the tally of infections to 81,49,141 and the death toll to 1,48,458. With 668 patients recovering from the infection in the last 24 hours, the count of recoveries has reached 79,96,323, leaving the state with 4,360 active cases, the official said.


According to the state health department bulletin, 207 cases were recorded in Mumbai on Saturday making it the fifth consecutive day that the city saw 200 plus infections.


The only fatality of the day was reported in Amravati city, it said.
