New Delhi: India sees a rise in active Covid-19 cases after it reported 3,962 new cases in the last 24 hours, the current caseload is 22,416, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The data updated at 8 am also stated that the number of active cases in the country increased by 1,239 in 24 hours. Of the 26 fresh fatalities, six were recorded in the last 24 hours and 20 were reconciled by Kerala, according to the update on Saturday.
The active cases now constitute 0.05 percent of the total infections, the health ministry said, adding the country's overall Covid-19 recovery rate at 98.73 percent.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.89 percent, while the weekly figure was 0.77 percent, according to the health ministry. The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 percent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose to 4,26,25,454, the data showed. On vaccination, the ministry said the cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 inoculation drive have exceeded 193.96 crores.
Union Health Ministry on Friday wrote to Telangana Secretary (Health), Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Karnataka Principal Secretary (Health), Kerala Principal Secretary (Health), and Tamil Nadu Principal Secretary (Health) over the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in their respective states. In the letter, Union Health Secy Rajesh Bhushan told the aforementioned states that they must maintain a strict watch and take pre-emptive action if required to control any emerging spread of the infection.
This comes after India on Friday reported a fresh spike in daily Covid-19 caseload with 4,041 fresh infections, against the 3,712 infections registered the previous day.
