In the latest developments in the Covid body bag scam case, the Enforcement Directorate has issued a summon to former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar for questioning in the case today, as reported by the news agency ANI. Pednekar responded to the summons and said that she will "appear before the agency".
Speaking on ED summons, Rahul Arote, advocate of former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said "She has asked for 4 weeks' time as she needs more time to collect all the documents required by ED. ED has not responded yet. They said they will communicate it to us."
Earlier in June, the probe agency carried out searches across Maharashtra in the case and seized Rs 68.65 lakh in cash and documents, which revealed more than 50 immovable properties with an estimated market value of more than Rs 150 crore, as reported by the news agency ANI. ED said that it also recovered fixed deposits and investments worth Rs 15 crore, along with jewellery items worth Rs 2.46 crore and several electronic devices.
According to ANI, the probe agency had also summoned Suraj Chava, a close aide of Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Aaditya Thackeray, and asked him to appear for questioning in the case.
