Srinagar: In a new measure to offer relief to stranded people in Ladakh due to Covid-19 outbreak, the administration has launched a portal asking people to use the website in seeking help from the government during the lockdown.


People who are stuck in the region and trying to reach out to the government can now register through the website connect.ladakh.gov.in .  The portal is supporting people by providing information on how to take precautions and fight Covid-19,  besides offering help with evacuation and other solutions.

Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas inaugurated the web portal and almost 8,500 people registered within a day to seek help from the administration.

The administration has been prompt in reaching out to people facing difficulties and almost 1,000 Ladakh residents were offered help so far. The administration made food, medicines and other essential available for the people trapped during the lockdown.

The website is providing critical information to officials in tracking people within a click. The website has been developed by Ladakh administration and IT department in order to create a direct link between people and the administration.

In Ladakh around 14 out of the 19 people, who were found infected, have been cured and other patients are also stable.  The authorities are expecting that Ladakh will be free from Coronavirus before May. The officials said arrangements will be made for the return of Ladakh residents in the coming days.

However, the return will be facilitated to other states once it is confirmed that the region is free of Covid-19. In order to begin that process, people will again have to come back to the website.

In view of the nationwide lockdown imposed in the country domestic and international flights are suspended.

Ladakh is also not allowing people to enter the region, and in case of anyone inadvertently entering the region, the person will be quarantined for 28 days and after the quarantine period is over provision has been kept to put that person in jail under different sections of the IPC.
