New Delhi: In view of the rising daily of Coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh, all schools and colleges across the state will remain closed till February 6, 2022, according to the official orders.
According to an order issued by the additional chief secretary home, Avanish Awasthi, the state government has decided to extend the closure of education institutes till mentioned date. However, in view of upcoming board examinations, the online classes will continue for the students of Class 11 and Class 12.
Meanwhile, the schools will be open for the vaccination drive for the students between 15 and 18 age groups. They will be allowed to visit their schools to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Although the classes have been discontinued for children in Anganbadis the distribution of food and rations will continue.
Earlier, the schools and colleges were directed to remain closed till January 30 and now it seems that a few states are slowly reopening educational institutions, even UP can be expected to take a call soon, once vaccination rates improve.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh reported 8,901 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, taking the number of active cases in the state to 72,393, while 20 more fatalities shot the death toll up to 23,125.
Lucknow remains to be worst hit city with 1,491 new infections, followed by 563 from Ghaziabad, 506 from Gautam Buddh Nagar, 291 from Meerut and 237 from Varanasi among other districts.
