Among the fresh cases, one was reported from Anantnag, Kulgam-2, Srinagar-14, Kupwara-10, Baramulla-27, Shopian-24, Bandipora-9, Budgam-6, Pulwama-13, Ganderbal-3, Jammu-10, Udhampur-3, Poonch-10, Samba-3 and Rajouri-4.
Meanwhile, government said that after the arrival of returnees led to surge in number of positive cases in Pulwama, the Covid-19 test of quarantine staff in a school has returned positive after administration adopted aggressive random sampling.
All the officials associated with quarantine duties were sampled which include team of Nodal Officer, Municipality Officials, Service Providers from PDD and PHE, Cooks besides ANCs, elderly and people with compromised immunity levels. Among the jawans, five are based in Trehgam in Kupwara, while rest are from Srinagar.
“The School was designated as a quarantine Centre for returnees from various parts of the country, around 72 inmates were housed in the centre and were later on sampled for COVID-19,” local administration stated.
On June 2, 117 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus were reported in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total cases in the Union Territory to 2,718. On June 1, the Jammu and Kashmir government has exempted defence and central armed forces returning to their duties from compulsory RTPCR testing and administrative quarantine.

Reports stated that valley's leading pulmonologist and head of the chest diseases hospital in Srinagar has tested positive after his test report was received on Tuesday.
Even a senior IAS officer tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir with over a dozen top officials went into self-quarantine last week. Reports said the Commissioner/Secretary-level officer had tested positive late Saturday evening.
