Kargil: Following the receipt of information from the District Magistrate Kargil vide Letter No: DC/CEOK/Councilor-LAHDC/2021, dated: 20-06-2020 regarding the registration of FIR and legal custody of Zakir Hussain, Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan convened a meeting of the Executive Council of LAHDC, Kargil at Council Secretariat today.


Executive Councilor Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Hon’ble Executive Councilor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi and Executive Councilor Health Muhammad Ali Chandan attended the meeting.

The meeting deliberated upon the situation which has evolved in the district in the aftermath of the viral audio conversation of Councilor Zakir Hussain.

The Executive Council in one voice condemned the views expressed by the Councilor in the strongest possible terms. The Executive Council was of the view that it was an act of one individual who is being dealt as per the law of the land.

With regard to the said Councilor being a member of the LAHDC Kargil, the Executive Council discussed the course of action to be initiated in his case by the LAHDC, Kargil as per the LAHDC Act.

Keeping in view the information received from the District Magistrate, Kargil the Executive Council decided that the Councilor shall stand suspended from the LAHDC Kargil with immediate effect. It was further decided that formal orders in this regard shall be issued by the Deputy Commissioner /CEO, LAHDC, Kargil.

The power of removal of a member also came up for discussion during the meeting and it was given out that the power of removal of a member of LAHDC vests with the Government under Section 19 of the LAHDC Act, 1997.

Meanwhile, the Executive Council said it was extremely unfortunate that a certain section of media and some people on the social media are generalizing the views expressed by the said Councilor thereby maligning the image of entire Kargil.

Moreover, the Executive Council reiterated the unflinching loyalty of the people of Kargil towards the nation and also emphasized the fact that the people of Kargil need no certificate from any section of media to prove their patriotism.

The Executive Council further said that the people of Kargil have stood steadfastly with our Indian Army ever since 1948, 1965, 1971 and 1999 and have shouldered the responsibility of safeguarding the borders of the country with equal zeal and patriotism.
