India has seen the worst-ever spike in its daily cases count with over 52,000 fresh cases today. Total cases in Maharashtra, the worst-hit state, has breached 4 lakh-mark.Providing relief to people. Delhi Cabinet has decided to reduce VAT on diesel from 30% to 16.75%. Coronavirus in Karnataka Update-




Despite the spike in Coronavirus cases in the state, the Karnataka government has decided to do away with night curfews and Sunday curfew from 1st August under Unlock 3.0. 'In accordance with the unlock 3.0 guidelines from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Sunday lockdown on August 2 has been lifted along with night curfew from August 1 between 9pm and 5am,' state Chief Secretary T.M. Vijay Bhaskar said in an order.




'With more relaxations of lockdown restrictions, gyms and yoga institutes will be allowed to reopen from August 5 across the state,' said Bhaskar.

Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir Update-



Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported 450 new Coronavirus cases. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the Union Territory has now neared the 20,000-mark with 7,662, active cases. However, on the positive side, 11,842 patients have recovered from the deadly virus. 17 Coronavirus infected patients died of Covid-19 on Thursday ( 1 Jammu and 16 from Kashmir). The death toll in the state now stands at 365.

In the past 24 hours, four more coronavirus deaths were reported from the state of Jharkhand. The death toll in the state now stands at 103. With 300 new cases, Covid-19 tally in Jharkhand climbed to 10,195. Out of the total Covid-19 cases recorded in Jharkhand, 6,134 cases are still active while 4,061 people have recovered. The recovery rate in Jharkhand stands at 41.04 per cent.

In order to contain the spread of fast-spreading coronavirus, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday urged people to take Covid-19 induced lockdown seriously. However, CM Baghel also added that the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Chhattisgarh was better if compared to other states in India.




"We had to take the decision to enforce lockdown in urban areas to contain the spread of the infection. People should take lockdown seriously," he said in a video message.

Global COVID-19 cases surpass 17mn: Johns Hopkins



The total number of global coronavirus cases surpassed the 17 million mark on Thursday, while the deaths have increased to more than 667,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

The overall number of cases currently stood at 17,029,155, while the fatalities rose to 667,011, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.

The US accounted for the world's highest number of infections and fatalities at 4,426,982 and 150,713, respectively, according to the CSSE.

Brazil came in the second place with 2,552,265 infections and 90,134 deaths.

A contract worth 63-million has been signed by the European Commission with the American pharmaceutical company Gilead to secure doses of Veklury, the brand name for Remdesivir, for the treatment of COVID-19.
