Send detailed plans on vaccine distribution: PM to states; warns against carelessness

Prime Minister Modi urged the states to send detailed plans soon on how they plan to take vaccine to lowest levels, expecting a pro-active participation from the Chief Ministers. He stressed that even though vaccine work is going on there should be no carelessness.

India in touch with Indigenous as well as global vaccine developers:

“Government of India is keeping a track of each development in vaccine development. We are in touch with Indian vaccine developers and manufacturers. We are also in touch with global regulators, governments of other countries, multinational organizations and  international companies,” said Prime Minister Modi in his address after the meet.

Many aspects of vaccine still uncertain, do not let off guard, alerts PM Modi

While asking the states to ensure that people d not let off their guards, Prime Minister Modi said that it is not certain whether there will be one, two or three doses of a vaccine. It is also not decided what will be the price of the vaccine. We still don't have answers to these questions, he said.

The States are required to establish cold storage facilities for COVID19 vaccine, he said.

India better off in recovery rates, but rampant carelessness prevalent

Prime Minister Modi said that on seeing good recovery rates, many think coronavirus is weak and they’ll recover soon even if they get infected, this thought process has led to rampant carelessness.

“Those working on vaccine are doing it but we need to focus on ensuring that people are alert & transmission is curbed. We've to bring positivity rate under 5%,” he stressed.

Safety is as important as speed for us, whichever vaccine India will give to its citizens will be safe on all scientific standards. Vaccine distribution strategy will be chalked out in collective coordination with states. States must also start working cold storage facilities, he said.
