Coronavirus LIVE, Friday, June 11, 2021: A group of public health experts, including doctors from AIIMS and members from the national task force on COVID-19, have said that mass, indiscriminate and incomplete vaccination can trigger the emergence of mutant strains and recommended that there is no need to inoculate those who had documented coronavirus infection.
Pune Municipal Corporation announced more relaxation in coronavirus-induced restrictions from Monday after the positivity rate of Maharashtra's second largest city dipped below 5 per cent.
Under category 2, shops dealing in essential items can stay open till 7pm om all days, and those selling non-essential items can operate in the same time segment on weekdays.
Malls, restaurants, bars, eateries, and hotels, coaching classes, training institutes, study rooms, and libraries have been given permission to operate with 50 percent seating capacity.
Meanwhile, gardens, playgrounds etc will remain open from 5 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 7 pm, while private offices can function with 50 per cent staff

COVID-19 situation remained under control in Bihar on Friday when a total of 566 fresh cases were reported while the death toll rose by 14. According to the state health department, the total number of fatalities has reached 9466 and the aggregate tally of confirmed cases has climbed to 7,16,296.
However, 7,99,481 people have been recovered after being infected with the coronavirus and the state was now left with only 6343 active cases. The recovery rate is 97.79 per cent.
Madhya Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 7,87,572, after 397 more persons tested positive for the infection on Friday, while the toll rose to 8,510 with 35 casualties, an official from the state health department said.
As many as 1,240 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the count of recoveries in Madhya Pradesh to 7,73,615, the official said.
A decrease in the number of Covid cases should never inculcate a sense of complacency among the public, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Friday, underlining that the behavioural pattern of putting masks on and off intermittently, improper wearing of masks and not following Covid-appropriate behaviour contributed to the second wave of the viral disease.
He also said the steadily declining number of active coronavirus cases in the country, a trend sustained for 28 days, and less than one lakh fresh cases for the fourth consecutive day have allowed a sliver of opportunity to him to be with the people of his constituency physically

With the pandemic's second wave waning, 11,042 new cases were logged, while194 patients succumbed to the infection in a day, said the state health bulletin on Thursday.
"With 11,042 positive cases were registered on Wednesday, the state's Covid tally rose to 27,39,290, including 2,10,652 active cases, while recoveries increased to 24,96,132, with 15,721 patients discharged during the day," said the bulletin.
As epicentre of the pandemic in the state, Bengaluru reported 2,191 fresh cases on Wednesday, taking its Covid tally to 11,91,732, including 95,423 active cases, while 10,81,093 recovered, with 4,846 patients discharged in the last 24 hours.

IYC president Srinivas BV took Twitter to share photos and a video of workers of the Congress party's youth wing preparing earthen pots containing the ashes for immersion. G7 leaders will agree to expand global Covid vaccine manufacturing to provide at least one billion doses to the world through sharing and financing schemes, Britain said Thursday.
The UK, which is hosting the big powers' gathering in southwest England, added it would donate at least 100 million surplus doses within the next year, including five million beginning in the coming weeks.

Prima facie, these reports appear to be fake," a statement issued by the Union Health Ministry said.
UK prime minister Boris Johnson announced on Friday his country will provide 100 million doses of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), surplus to its requirements, to the world within the next year.
"As a result of the success of the UK's vaccine program, we are now in a position to share some of our surplus doses with those who need them," Johnson said, according to excerpts of the announcement released by his office. The announcement came ahead of the G-7 summit, which will begin later on Friday and will be hosted by the UK. Also, last week, Johnson called upon leaders of the UK's fellow G-7 countries -- the US, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and Japan -- to vaccinate the entire world "by the end of next year."
