Nagaland reports 68 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more fatalities

Nagaland's COVID-19 tally rose to 28,072 on Tuesday as 68 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

Three fresh fatalities from Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung were reported during the day, taking the coronavirus death toll in the state to 577.

Dimapur recorded the highest number of new cases at 19, followed by Kohima (15) and Mokokchung (14), the bulletin said.

Ninety-nine more patients were cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,437.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state has marginally improved to 90.61 per cent from 90.47 per cent on Monday.

The state now has 1,261 active cases and 797 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states, the bulletin said.

Nagaland has tested 2.67 lakh samples for the infection, and altogether, 6, 21,800 people have been inoculated till Monday.

Mumbai reports 288 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths, 412 recoveries

Mumbai on Tuesday reported 288 new cases of COVID-19, slightly up from a day ago, taking the total to 7,35,659, while three more patients succumbed to the infection, the city civic body said. On Monday, the city had reported 259 COVID-19 cases and nine fatalities. Also, 412 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative figure of recovered cases to 7,12,729, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement.

Kerala reports 23,676 new coronavirus cases

Kerala on Tuesday reported 23,676 fresh COVID cases pushing the total infection count to 34.49 lakh, with the number of people succumbing to the virus touching 17,103 after 148 additional deaths. On Monday, the state had reported 13,984 cases after recording more than 20,000 cases for six consecutive days. As many as 15,626 people have been cured of the infection since Monday, taking the total recoveries to 32,58,310 and the number of active cases in the state to 1,73,221, a state government release said.

Uttar Pradesh records 65 fresh Covid cases, 2 new deaths

Uttar Pradesh's Covid tally rose to 17,08,562 with 65 fresh cases, while two new fatalities took the death toll to 22,765, a bulletin by the Health Department said on Tuesday. One death each has been reported from Maharajganj and Chandauli districts, it said. Eleven fresh cases were reported from Lucknow, seven from Varanasi, five from Allahabad, four each from Kanpur Nagar and Gautam Budhnagar, among others, the bulletin said. 

Maharashtra sees 6,005 new COVID-19 cases, 177 deaths, 6,799 recoveries

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 6,005 fresh coronavirus positive cases and 177 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 63,21,068 and the toll to 1,33,215 while 6,799 patients recovered, the state health department said. With the new additions, the tally of recoveries in Maharashtra now stands at 61,10,124, leaving the state with 74,318 active cases with a recovery rate of 96.66 per cent. The case fatality rate is 2.1 per cent, it said. Coronavirus LIVE, Wednesday, August 4: Uttar Pradesh created a record on Tuesday by administering over 22 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses in a single day, as per the 7 pm provisional report on Tuesday. UP also reached another milestone by becoming the first state in the country to cross a total of five crore vaccinations.


Expressing happiness over his government’s vaccination coverage, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people’s support record number of COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on August 3.

The Delhi government on Tuesday said 91,100 people have received anti-coronavirus vaccine doses the previous day with 45,126 of them getting the second jab. The total number of vaccine doses administered in Delhi stands at 1,01,98,723, including 74,82,004 first doses and 27,16,719 second jabs, according to the vaccination bulletin.


On Tuesday morning, the national capital had a balance stock of 7,97,550 anti-coronavirus vaccines of which 4,15,990 doses were of Covishield and 3,81,560 of Covaxin.
