Mumbai: New rules have been brought in to the capital city of Maharashtra as Covid-19 cases continue to rise. BMC has released a set of new directives for the same. ALSO READ | By August, One In 15 People Above 10 Yrs Of Age Exposed To Covid-19; Know What ICMR's Latest Finding Says
Entry in malls, shops, restaurants, offices, buses, taxis and rickshaws without masks is prohibited and those seen on the street without mask have to pay a fine of Rs 200.
Here are the rules to be followed by pedestrians in Mumbai amid the risk of exposure to Coronavirus:
- Entry in any public place to those without a mask shall be prohibited and they will also be asked to pay fine for the same.
- It is mandatory to put a 'no mask no entry' poster in all offices and shops, restaurants, buses, taxis, and auto. All concerned have been informed to follow the rule strictly.
- Incase of violation of rules, both owner and customer will be held accountable.
The latest briefing by the Health Ministry has revealed that Maharashtra's daily new cases were around 14,000 per day in the beginning of September, which has gone up to more than 18000 cases per day this week.
For the first time in 28 days, Maharashtra's Covid-19 deaths and cases plummeted drastically, though Mumbai's total cases breached the 2-lakh mark on Monday.
"New recoveries in India have exceeded new cases in recent days leading to widening the gap between new cases and recovered cases," the Health Ministry Secretary said on Tuesday.
However, as a large portion of the population is still susceptible, Balram Bhargava, DG, ICMR advised that the prevention fatigue is to be avoided and the 5T strategy (Test, Track, Trace, Treat & Technology) is to be adhered to.
