As per the Union Health Ministry with single-day spike of 52,050 positive cases & 803 deaths in India in the last 24 hours, the overall Covid-19 tally rises to 18,55,746. This includes 586298 active cases, 1230510 cured/discharged/migrated & 38938 deaths.

Coronavirus recovery rate & Case Fatality Rate in India:
The recovery rate among Covid-19 patients has risen to 66.31 per cent, while the fatality rate has further dropped to 2.10 pc, the data stated. The total number of confirmed cases also includes foreigners. This is the sixth consecutive day that COVID-19 cases have increased by more than 50,000
It is to be noted that India has one of the lowest Case Fatality Rate (CFR) at 2.09 per cent as compared to the global average.
Coronavirus tests in India:
The total number of Covid-19 samples tested up to 3rd August is 2,08,64,750 including 6,61,182 samples tested yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said. There are 917 labs in the government sector and 439 labs in the private sector for conducting COVID-19 tests.
Worst-hit states:
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with 4,41,228 cases and 15,576 deaths, of which 260 occurred in the last 24 hours. Tamil Nadu comes in second with 257,613 cases and 4,132 deaths. The state registered 98 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Delhi, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh saw a decline in the number of active cases. Mizoram, Tripura and Uttarakhand too witnessed active cases plummeting.
