New Delhi: Coronavirus or COVID-19 is rapidly spreading in India and this has caused unrest in the country. The first confirmed positive case of the infection was reported on 30th January in Kerala to the government by the National Institute of Virology. Gradually the deadly Coronavirus infection expanded its trace in the country, affecting over 4,700 people till April 7.

As per latest data by the Health Ministry, 508 more Covid-19 positive cases and 13 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. India's positive cases rise to 4,789 (including 4312 active cases, 353 cured/discharged/migrated people and 124 deaths).

While the impact of the novel Coronavirus has been the greatest in China and Italy, India also now within its grip. After making its presence in Kerala first, COVID-19 infection has reached other cities/regions including Maharashtra, Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Hyderabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh among others.

Meanwhile, the Centre is yet to decide on whether to extend the lockdown after 14 April. Several states have requested the Modi government for an extension to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The upsurge in COVID-19 infection cases in the country to hundreds tested positive is related to the religious gathering held by the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi's Nizamuddin last month.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state on Tuesday with the number of confirmed cases around 868

After Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu has the greatest number of novel Coronavirus cases with 621 confirmed positives cases

Delhi has also crossed the 500-mark with the total number of 523 cases.

Kerala, which had reported the first case in the country, has till now registered 372 positive cases.

The number of cases in Telangana has gone up to 364 and 288 in Rajasthan.

Jammu and Kashmir have reported 116 cases, Haryana 84, West Bengal 91 and Punjab 91.

32 people are afflicted with COVID-19 in Bihar, while Assam and Uttarakhand have reported 26 novel Coronavirus cases each.

Odisha has 21 positive cases, Chandigarh 18, Ladakh 14 and Himachal Pradesh 13.

Ten cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while Chhattisgarh has 10 cases of the infection.

Goa has reported seven COVID-19 cases, followed by Puducherry with five cases, Jharkhand three and Manipur two cases. Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have reported one infection each.

There are around 4,421 people have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) in India till Tuesday morning according to the figures provided by the health ministry. Out of these, 114 people have died while 326 people have been cured and discharged.
