Total Covid-19 positive cases stand at 11,55,191 including 4,02,529 active cases, 7,24,578 cured/discharged/migrated and 28084 deaths, the health ministry said.
Yesterday, (on Monday), India reported highest-ever single day spike of more than 40,000 new cases within 24 hours, and with this record surge, the country added another lakh to its overall tally. And within a day the overall tally spikes up to 11.5 lakh cases.
Number of tests:
1,43,81,303 samples tested for Covid-19 up to 20th July. Of these 3,33,395 were tested yesterday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said in Tuesday’s statement.

Worst-hit states:
Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 3,18,695 cases reported until Monday.It is followed by Tamil Nadu and Delhi in terms of Coronavirus infections.
India third worst-hit country:
India is the third most affected country in the world in terms of the number of corona infections after United States and Brazil. But taking into consideration the number of infected cases and mortality per 1 million population, India is in a much better position than other countries. The worrisome fact is that the growth rate of corona cases in the country also remains second in the world.
