New Delhi: For the first time, India witnessed a record single-day jump of nearly 20,000 new cases in a span of 24 hours. The highest ever jump in Covid-19 tally comes on Sunday with 410 new deaths, pushing the overall number of cases in India to over 5.28 lakh and over 16k deaths. As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare 410 deaths and highest single-day spike of 19,906 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours. Positive cases in India stand at 5,28,859 including 2,03,051 active cases, 3,09,713 cured/discharged/migrated & 16,095 deaths, it said.

Total samples tested:

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of samples tested up to 27 June is 82,27,802 of which 2,31,095 samples were tested yesterday.

Worst-hit states:

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in India. Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have climbed to 1,59,133 while Delhi's tally stands at 80,188. Maharashtra and Delhi are followed by Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal respectively.

Global tally:

More than 10 million (one crore) people have been infected by the disease across 213 countries of the world. According to the statistics shared on Worldometer, 10,081,522 people have been infected by Coronavirus all over the world, while the number of fatalities is 501,298 and about 5,458,367 people have recovered.

India is at the fourth spot in terms of total number of infections.
