Coronavirus In India: 15,981 Fresh Cases Registered Along With 379 Fatalities, Recovery Rate At 98%

Kerala has reported maximum cases with 97,630 active cases as on Saturday, according to the state website.

New Delhi: India registered 15,981 coronavirus cases on Saturday, 5.7 per cent lower than the previous day, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The active cases comprise 0.60 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.07 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

With this, India's overall Covid-19 case count has surged to 3,40,53,573.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed that nearly 73 per cent adult population has received the single dose of the vaccine and around 30 per cent have been administered double doses. Among Indian states, 11 states have more than 1,000 active cases at present. Kerala has reported maximum cases with 97630 active cases as on Saturday, according to the state website. test positivity rate  stands at 12.31 in Kerala. As of now 2, 50, 11 531 people have been vaccinated in the state. 

However, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) daily data, the Covid-19 testing has declined extensively. In the last 24 hours, a total of 9,23,003 tests were conducted. Whereas on October 14, 11.80 lakh Covid samples were tested, on October 13 (13.01 lakh), on October 12 (13.25 lakh), on October 11 (11.81 lakh), on October 10 (10.35 lakh), respectively. So far 58,98,35,258 tests have been conducted, as per the ICMR data.

However, the number of deaths rose to 4,51,814 with 379 fresh fatalities. Meanwhile, 97.23 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.08 per cent, highest since March 2020. Active cases account for less than 1 per cent of total cases, currently at 0.59 per cent; lowest since March 2020.

While 166 Covid-related deaths has been logged in the last 24 hours, as per government bulletin on Saturday morning.

The government of Puducherry extended Covid restrictions in the union territory till October 31, 2021 (midnight).

Meanwhile, Assam reported more single-day Covid-19 recoveries than fresh cases, while the death toll rose to 5,939 with one new fatality as on Friday, the latest health bulletin issued by the National Health Mission said, as per PTI.

The northeastern state logged 147 fresh coronavirus cases on Friday, even as 284 patients were discharged from hospitals and covid care centres during the day, it said.

The Covid-19 tally stood at 6,05,994, while 5,96,547 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
