New Delhi: India has reported 45,352 new COVID-19 cases, 34,791 recoveries, and 366 deaths in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry informed on Friday.


The active cases registered an increase for the third consecutive day as the total figure increased to 3,99,778 comprising 1.22 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.45 per cent, the ministry said.


An increase of 10,195 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

More than 65 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs, and more than 1.20 Crore doses are in the pipeline. Around 4.36 crore balance doses are still available with the States/UTs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed.

Of 45,352 new COVID infections and 366 deaths reported in India in the last 24 hours, Kerala recorded 32,097 cases and 188 deaths yesterday.

Coronavirus Cases In States


Kerala's overall COVID cases breached the 41 lakh mark as the state continues to record consistently high daily infections while once again witnessing over 30,000 new infections on Thursday.


Kerala reported 32,097 new COVID-19 infections and 188 deaths on Thursday, which pushed the total infection count to 41,22,133 and the fatalities to 21,149.


The test positivity rate (TPR) was found to be 18.41 per cent after testing of 1,74,307 samples in the last 24 hours,  the state government informed in a release.


Kerala has been reporting in excess of 30,000 daily cases for the past few days.


Maharashtra on Thursday reported 4,342 new coronavirus cases and 55 fatalities while 4,755 patients recovered, a health department official said.


The Pune region reported the highest 17 fatalities.


The state's infection tally rose to 64,73,674 while the death toll reached 1,37,551. The number of recovered patients increased to 62,81,985, leaving the state with 50,607 active cases.


Maharashtra's case recovery rate stands at 97.04 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.


Meanwhile, no COVID-19-related death was recorded in Delhi for the second consecutive day on Thursday, while 39 fresh cases of the infection were reported with a positivity rate of 0.06 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.


This is the 21st time since the second wave of the pandemic hit the national capital that zero fatality due to the viral disease was logged in a day.


No death due to COVID was recorded on July 18, July 24, July 29, August 2, August 4, August 8, August 11, August 12, August 13, August 16, August 20, August 21, August 22, August 23, August 24, August 26, August 27, August 28, August 29 and September 1 too.


Thirty-eight COVID patients were discharged in the last 24 hours.
