New Delhi: India clocked 10,126 Covid cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 266 days, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Tuesday. 
With the fresh cases, the country's total count climbed to 3,43,77,113.


The active caseload stood at 1,40,638. 11,982 people recovered over the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,37,75,086. While the active cases comprise 0.41% of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.25%, which is the highest since the onset of the pandemic.






332 people succumbed to the virus taking the toll to 4,61,389. Of the total new fatalities, 262 are from Kerala and 15 from Maharashtra.   


According to health data, 10,85,848 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative count to 61,72,23,931. 
The daily positivity rate remained below 2% for the last 36 days, while the weekly positivity rate at 1.25% remained less than 2% for the last 46 days, according to the data. 
A total of 59,08,440 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours taking the total coverage to over 1,09,08,16,356.


Kerala Covid Cases


Kerala on Monday reported 5,404 new Covid cases and 80 fatalities, taking the infection count to 50,20,909 and the toll to 33,978.
According to the state health department, 52,862 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. There are 46 wards across 39 local self government bodies in Kerala with a weekly infection population ratio above 10%.


"Currently, there are 71,316 active cases in Kerala of which only 7.2% are admitted to hospitals," the health department said.


Among the districts, Thiruvananthapuram logged the highest number of cases --777, followed by Kollam with 662 cases and Kozhikode 648.
Meanwhile, 6,136 persons recuperated from the disease today, taking the total cured to 49,14,993.


Maharashtra Covid Cases


Maharashtra on Monday reported 751 fresh Covid cases and 15 fatalities, taking the total tally to 66,18,347 and toll to 1,40,403, the state health department said.


The number of cases and fatalities dipped on Monday as compared to Sunday that witnessed 892 infections and 16 deaths.


A total of 1,555 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries in Maharashtra to 64,60,663 so far. The active cases stood at 13,649, an official said.


Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 97.62% and fatality at 2.12%.


On Monday, 16 districts and five municipal corporations in the state did not report any new cases. Mumbai districts reported the highest with 206 fresh cases, followed by Ahmednagar district with 46.


Among the eight regions of Maharashtra, the Mumbai region saw the highest with 399 cases during the day, followed by 175 cases from the Pune region.
Nashik region reported 102 cases, Kolhapur 30, Aurangabad 21, Latur 17, Akola five and Nagpur two cases, the official said.
