New Delhi: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been brought to AIIMS, Delhi. He will undergo an endoscopic procedure and will be kept under the supervision of the doctors subject to his condition, informed AIIMS in a statement.
In July, Ram Rahim was admitted to a hospital after contracting coronavirus. The controversial godman was admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram from Sunaria jail in Rohtak district at that time.
In May, he was admitted to PGMIS Hospital after several complaints of low blood pressure. But at that time had refused to get tested for COVID-19 in the hospital.
The Dera Sacha Sauda chief is serving a 20-year-sentence for raping two of his disciples in August 2017. In January 2019, a special CBI court in Panchkula also awarded him and three others life imprisonment for the murder of a journalist 16 years ago and he has been serving the sentence since then.
Recently, Gurmeet Ram Rahim sought an 'emergency parole' to meet his ailing mother. He presented documents to the jail authorities regarding his mother's illness. The jail authorities said that the Dera chief had sought parole for 21 days to meet his ailing mother Naseeb Kaur and was granted parole on May 21.
