New Delhi: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022, Congress has decided to give 40% of the total election tickets to women in the state.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made the announcement while addressing a press conference from the party office in Lucknow today.
Priyanka Gandhi urged women to come forward and take charge of the development in the state and improve their and their family's lives.
The Congress leader said it is the party's goal to make women active participants in Uttar Pradesh politics. Raising the slogan, "I am a girl, I can fight", Priyanka Gandhi said if a woman wants a change they shouldn't sit back. "It is their chance to take the plunge and promote gender equality," she said.

Priyanka Gandhi also targeted BJP's Ujjwala Yojana and said, "Women will fully participate in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. Parties think they can empower women by giving an LPG cylinder and Rs 2000."
She further said that a woman's struggle is much difficult and it can't be solved by getting a cylinder but to stand together and fight as a community irrespective of their caste and religion.
"This decision has been taken for the rape victim in Unnao who was burnt to death, for the victim in Hathras who did not get justice, for the girl I met in Lakhimpur Kheri who said she wanted to become the Prime Minister. This decision is for every woman who wants to take Uttar Pradesh forward," Priyanka Gandhi said.
She said there is politics of hatred in the country and only women can end it.
