New Delhi: Main opposition and grand old party in India, Congress will get its new party president by the end of September 2022. Congress' Central Election Authority president Madhusudan Mistry on Wednesday said that the party would elect its new national president by the end of September 2022.

The Congress party is currently headed by interim president Sonia Gandhi, who took the charge after her son Congress MP Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post in July 2019 after the party was defeated in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

"As per schedule decided by Congress Working Committee, the election process for the post of Congress president will be completed by September," said Mistry as reported by ANI.

The Party’s poll body head said that the membership drive has been going on in full swing and the process would be completed by March 31 next year. He added that a digital membership drive was also taking place.
