Congress Presidential Elections: Rahul Gandhi & Leaders Part Of Bharat Jodo Yatra To Vote At Campsite

A special booth will be set up in Karanataka at Bharat Jodo Yatra Camp for Rahul Gandhi and others to vote in the Congress President Elections that is scheduled to take place on October 17.

A special booth will be set up for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the 40 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates who are participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra to cast their votes for the party's president there. On October 17, the voting for the Congress presidential elections is planned to take place, and the padayatra will halt for that day, news agency ANI reported.

Today was the 31st day of the yatra, which is currently in the Karnataka leg. Jairam Ramesh, leader of the Congress, has made it crystal clear that all voters need to exercise their right to vote, is an ID card. At the travel camp, all preparations have been made for their participation in the Congress President election.

The voting will be overseen by the Central Election Authority, which is under the direction of senior party leader Madhusudan Mistry. October 8 is the final day for withdrawing nominations. Election results will be announced on October 19 and the voting ill take place on October 17.

Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor are competing for the position of Congress president. Previously, KN Tripathi's nomination for the Congress presidential election was turned down because of signature problems.

During the nomination procedure, 20 forms were submitted, however four of them were dismissed because of problems with the signatures. Mallikarjun Kharge earned 14 nominations, Shashi Tharoor five, and Jharkhand Congress leader KN Tripathi one. In the meantime, for the party's presidential elections, Kharge got support from approximately 30 Congress leaders. These individuals' names include, among others, Digvijaya Singh, Salman Khurshid, Ashok Gehlot, Deepender Hooda, Manish Tewari, and Prithviraj Chavan.

Prior to dropping out of the campaign, Digvijaya Singh offered his support to Kharge, a veteran and well-respected party leader against whom he "cannot think of contesting." After Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot declared he will not run in the polls due to the unrest in his state, Singh is the second Congress candidate to withdraw from the race.

The great old party is about to elect a non-Gandhi president after more than 25 years thanks to the Gandhis' decision not to compete for president this time around.
