Congress from the very beginning has raised its voice and has shown resentment against demonetisation. Several protests have been launched against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government.
Even President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday said, “Demonetisation, while immobilising black money and fighting corruption, may lead to temporary slowdown of the economy,” the President said in a video address to the Governors of states and Lt. Governors of Union Territories.”
“We all will have to be extra careful to alleviate the sufferings of the poor, which might become unavoidable for the expected progress in the long term,” he added.
Reacting to President Mukherjee’s statement, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said, “President Pranab Mukherjee's remarks on demonetisation have shown the truth to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his decision.
"President of India has now spoken, will Modi ji listen and will Modi ji leave his arrogance of power and recoup the losses?"
"Head of the family gives lessons to truant child, that is the kind of lesson President of India has given," he added.
On the hand, the Chief economist of State Bank on Thursday said, "the problems being faced due to note ban will end by February end".
