New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot made five promises and said the party would implement the Rajasthan "health model" across Gujarat if it came to power in the upcoming state Assembly election. Gehlot, who is the Congress observer for Gujarat Assembly polls, said the Centre's Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme was "incomplete".

"We are here to win polls. I have requested PM Narendra Modi to follow and implement the health model of Rajasthan across the country. The scheme is 'Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana'. Their Ayushman Bharat scheme is incomplete," Gehlot said at a gathering in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

Gehlot said the people of Gujarat very well know it was the Congress that built schools, government hospitals, ports, industrial estates, large industries and major highways during its long stint in power in the western state.

The senior Congress leader further said that the party would ensure that the farmers get electricity during the day. He also promised to restore the old pension scheme, and reduce the prices of diesel and petrol. Gehlot also said that English medium government schools would be opened in rural areas.

Gehlot was accompanied by Congress general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal.

In his address, KC Venugopal said there was "clear anti-incumbency" against the ruling BJP government in Gujarat. Venugopal said that the Congress party had shown the country the path of development.

"There is clear anti-incumbency against the BJP govt. The last 27 years of their rule have created total disappointment in minds of people. When we were in power, we showed the country the path of development. We'll fight unitedly," he was quoted by ANI as saying.

Venugopal announced that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would visit Gujarat on September 5 to address party workers.

"We had several meetings yesterday. There is a lot of anger against the government in Gujarat. Nine months ago, the entire Cabinet, including the CM, was changed. Two days ago, the portfolios of two ministers were snatched. It means that this government is corrupt. We are going to form government in Gujarat," Venugopal further said.
