After Centre announced its decision to observe June 25 as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' to honour the victims of Emergency 1975, Congress slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling the decision another "headline grabbing exercise in hypocrisy by non-biological PM".

Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh took to X where he slammed the Centre's decision and in-turn lashed out at the PM saying that he had imposed an undeclared Emergency for 10 years on Indians. He added that June 4 will go down in history as "ModiMuktiDiwas".

"Yet another headline grabbing exercise in hypocrisy by the non-biological PM who had imposed an undeclared Emergency for ten long years before the people of India handed him a decisive personal, political, and moral defeat on June 4, 2024 - which will go down in history as ModiMukti Diwas," Jairam Ramesh stated.

"This is a non-biological PM who has subjected the Constitution of India and its principles, values, and institutions to systematic assault," he added.

Criticising the PM, the Congress leader also said that PM Modi's parivar had rejected Indian Constitution as it did not derive insipration from Manusmriti. He claimed that democracy for PM Modi means "demo-kursi".

"This is a non-biological PM whose ideological parivar had rejected the Constitution of India in Nov 1949 on the grounds that it did not derive inspiration from Manusmriti. This is a non-biological PM for whom democracy means only demo-kursi," Ramesh wrote.
