New Delhi: Congress party on Monday gave adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha on 'BJP trying to topple Congress-JDS government in Karnataka', as the political crisis deepened in the state with the coalition government of the state coming one step closer to the edge.


Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy who returned to Bengaluru on Sunday night from a week-long private visit to the US, will today hold talks with Congress leaders, including its state in-charge K.C. Venugopal, legislature party leader Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara and state unit president Dinesh Gundu Rao to resolve the crisis threatening the year-old coalition government.

On Sunday night, he held parleys with the ruling Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leaders on the party's three MLAs resigning along with nine Congress rebels on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has called for a breakfast meeting of all cabinet ministers belonging to the Congress party and said that if need be the ministers may also resign to vacate posts for the disgruntled MLAs.

“I've called a breakfast meeting of all the Ministers belonging to Congress party, to discuss the present political developments and the fallout. We know what BJP is trying to do. If need be, all of us may resign & then accommodate the MLAs,” he said.

The Congress-JD(S) government has plunged into a crisis, with 13 MLAs of the alliance submitting their resignations to the Speaker so far, 12 of them on Saturday. And a day after the resignation of MLAs rocked the coalition, leaders of both parties held day long discussions about the next course of action to save the government.
