Congress Chattisgarh List:  The Congress party has revealed its candidates for six out of the eleven Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday released the first list of candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in the states of Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim.



Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Rajnandgaon.


Bhupesh Bhagel reacted to the high command decision stating, "For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, the top leadership has ordered me to contest from Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat. Gratitude to the party and top leadership for this trust. It is a privilege to be a candidate from Sanskardhani Rajnandgaon."


"With the grace of Maa Bamleshwari and blessings of the people, this time the people of Rajnandgaon will contest and win," he added.










Dr. Shivkumar to contest from Jangir-Champa, while Jyotsana Mahant will represent the party in Kobra. Additionally, Rajendra Sahu will vie for victory from Durg, Vikas Upadhyay from Raipur, and Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasamund constituency.


 


To contest from Korba parliament seat in Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Jyotsana Mahant said, "I don't think of it as a challenge. I am a common person who will fight in the elections based on the works that were done by our government."


 

















Rajendra Sahu who will contest from Durg is a fresh face. On his candidature from Durg, Sahu said, "I thank the party High Command for giving me the opportunity.

 











As per PTI, Tamradhwaj Sahu and Shivkumar Dahariya served as ministers in the previous Baghel-led state government. Dahariya, an influential SC leader, to contest from Janjgir-Champa, reserved for SC candidates. He had been an MLA thrice.
Vikas Upadhyay, a Brahmin candidate, to contest from Raipur constituency. While he attained his first MLA victory in 2018, Upadhyay faced defeat in the 2023 elections from the Raipur City West assembly seat.


Jyotsana Mahant  is married to senior Congress leader and former Union minister Charan Das Mahant, who is now the leader of opposition in the state assembly.


 


The Congress's Central Election Committee (CEC) convened on Thursday to finalise its initial list of candidates for the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and former President Sonia Gandhi and other leaders of the committee attended this meeting to brainstorm on the names.


 


In the 2014 general elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) secured victory in 2 seats, while the Bharatiya JaAnata Party (BJP) emerged triumphant in 9 constituencies in Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh has 11 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP has announced candidates for all 11 seats. The party has fielded Chintamani Maharaj from Surguja, Radheshyam Rathia from Raigarh, Kamlesh Jangde from Janjgir-Champa, Saroj Pandey from Korba, Tokhan Sahu from Bilaspur, Santosh Pandey from Rajnandgaon, Vijay Baghel from Durg, Brijmohan Agrawal from Raipur, Roop Kumari Chaudhary from Mahasamund, Mahesh Kashyap from Bastar and Bhojraj Nag from Kanker.


All the seats in Chhattisgarh are currently occupied by the BJP.
