Bharat Nyay Yatra: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will embark on 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' from next month, after he concluded the Bharat Jodo Yatra earlier this year. The yatra comes ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, where a united opposition led by Congress is looking to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party. The announcement about the yatra was made by party leader KC Venugopal during a press conference on Wednesday.

Rahul Gandhi started the 4,080-kilometre Bharat Jodo Yatra in September last year from Kanyakumari and marched all the way to Kashmir covering 14 states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Delving into the details of the yatra, Venugopal said

  • The march will cover a distance of 6,200 kilometres and will travel through 85 districts across 14 states.

  • The states covered in the yatra include: Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

  • The march will be covered mostly by bus along with short stretches of walking, said the Congress leader.

  • Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will flag off the yatra on January 14 from Imphal. "This yatra is East-West, we have already done South-North yatra. Without Manipur how can we do a yatra? We have to try to heal the pain of the people of Manipur," Venugopal added.

  • "Bharat Nyay Yatra, the name itself is reflecting the objective of the yatra, Sabke liye nyay chahiye (need justice for everyone)," he said.

  • "In this yatra, Rahul Gandhi is going to interact with the youth, women and marginalised people," said Venugopal.
