New Delhi: In the light of corruption charges levelled against Delhi’s Lt Governor VK Saxena during his tenure as chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), he slammed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, alleging the latter resorted to diversionary tactics and false accusations out of desperation.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Saxena wrote, “I called for good governance, zero tolerance to corruption and better services for the people of Delhi. But unfortunately, Hon’ble CM Arvind Kejriwal Ji in desperation has resorted to diversionary tactics and false accusations.”

“I would not be surprised if in coming days more such baseless personal attacks are made on me and my family,” he said, adding, “He should know that I will under no circumstance whatsoever be deterred from my constitutional duties. My commitment to improving the lives of the people of Delhi remains unwavering.”

It is to be noted that the Lt Governor’s remarks come a day after he said he would take legal action against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi and Durgesh Pathak among others for defamatory and false allegations against him.

The AAP alleged that LG Saxena pressured his employees to exchange demonetised currency notes worth Rs 1,400 crore in 2016 when he was the chairman of KVIC.

Meanwhile, the ruling party in Delhi has also demanded Saxena's resignation, besides an investigation by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Notably, this came days after Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the alleged corruption in the implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 in which Delhi deputy CM Manisha Sisodia has been named as an accused.
